Vogliamo riabbracciare Padre Paolo Dall’Oglio

Come sta vivendo la famiglia questi due anni?

In questi mesi è stato come stare al capezzale di una persona cara, che è molto grave; si sta in quello stretto equilibrio tra l’avere ancora una piccola speranza di guarigione o se devi cominciare a fare i conti con la sua perdita.
Ecco allora che faccio a nome della mia famiglia un appello forte a chi abbia alcun tipo di responsabilità, sul piano dell’informazione o della detenzione concreta di nostro fratello e figlio, pensando ai nostri anziani genitori, Paolo Dall’Oglio, gesuita italiano, rapito in Siria il 29 luglio del 2013, affinché rompa questo ormai troppo lungo muro di silenzio e ce lo faccia riabbracciare.

C’è in noi anche la consapevolezza di come questa dura attesa sia in realtà una condizione che in qualche modo condividiamo con tante famiglie ahimè di rapiti e scomparsi o imprigionati, che sono in trepidazione per i loro cari come noi, ma sicuramente in una situazione di sofferenza generale ben diversa dalla nostra, data dalla guerra e da tutto ciò che ne deriva. E il nostro pensiero è sempre andato anche a loro.

On the occasion of the second anniversary of the kidnapping of the Jesuit priest, Father Paolo Dall’Oglio, the association “Journalist Friends of Padre Dall’ Oglio” is launching a summary of the declarations and of the appeal recently made in the name of the family Dall’ Oglio by Immcolata, the sister of Father Paolo.

How is the family living after all these years?

In these recent months it has been like being at the bedside of a dear person who is gravely ill: we are in a state of delicate balance between slim hope for a cure or the need to begin to finally come to terms with our loss.

And so now in the name of my family and especially in consideration of our aged parents, I am making a strong appeal for some kind of responsibility on the level of concrete information regarding the imprisonment of our brother and son: Paolo Dall’Oglio, Italian Jesuit, kidnapped in Syria on July 29, 2013. It is time to break the wall of silence that has gone on too long, so that we can once again embrace him.

We understand that this hard and painful waiting is a condition that we share with so many families of those who have been kidnapped or imprisoned, or disappeared: Who are in fear for their loved ones as we are. But surely in a situation of suffering that is different from ours, given the war and all that comes from it. Our thoughts have always been also with them.
